Buffalo, NY - The Manhattan men's swimming & diving team is in eighth place with 90.5 points after day two of the 2016 MAAC Championships at the Flickinger Center.
Sophomore Brandon Shields (Stony Point, N.Y. / George Mason) turned in one of the top performances of the day for the Jaspers in the 500-free, clocking a school-record time of 4:41.04 in placing 12th.
In the 50-free, the duo of sophomore Neil Perry (Elkridge, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) and senior Dallan Treanor (Monroe, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury) finished ninth (21.05) and 11th (21.25), respectively. In the prelims, senior Thomas Dougherty (Fresh Meadow, N.Y. / Archbishop Molloy) broke the 22-second plateau for the first time in his career, clocking a mark of 21.93 while junior Peter Hubbell (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. / Cold Spring Harbor) recorded a personal-best mark of 22.33.
Sophomore Tyler McCloskey (Orangeburg, N.Y. / Tappan Zee) paced Manhattan in the 200-IM (2:00.91) while junior Dylan Cooney (Port Jervis, N.Y. / Minisink Valley) was 14th in the 1-meter diving finals.
Concluding the day's action was the 200-freestyle relay team of Perry, Treanor, Dougherty and Shields that placed eighth in 1:25.67.
The Jaspers return to action on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 am with the 400-IM.
