Buffalo, NY - The Manhattan women's swimming & diving team stands in eighth place with 44 points after day one of the 2016 MAAC Championships at the Flickinger Center.
The 200-medley relay team of freshman Megan Pagano (LaGrangeville, NY / Arlington), sophomore Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place), freshman Kathryn Voitik (Moscow, Pa. / Scranton) and junior Sara Buckley (East Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) bettered their seed time by almost two seconds in finishing eighth with a time of 1:51.01.
In the final event of the night, the 800-free relay team of Voitik, Hutzler, Buckley and freshman Morgan Fountain (Cheshire, Conn. / Cheshire) bettered their seed mark by over six seconds in placing eighth with a mark of 8:09.57.
Earlier in the day, Hutzler and Patricia Colton (Washingtonville, N.Y. / Washingtonville) were named to the 2016 Women's Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Session two of the 2016 Championships will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 11 with the 500-free prelims.
