Jersey City, NJ – Saint Peter's defeated Manhattan 84-70 despite a game-high 30 points from Zavier Turner (Indianapolis, IN / Ball State) at the Yanitelli Center.

Turner, who has now hit for at least 30 twice this year, also added five assists and two steals while going 9-for-15 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long range, and a perfect 8-for-8 from the line.

The Jaspers fall to 2-6 and 0-2 in the MAAC while the Peacocks move to 4-3 and 1-1 in the league.

Saint Peter's opened up a 12-point lead at the break thanks to receiving a 20-point effort from its bench, fueled by 10 markers from Samuel Idowu.

The Peacocks opened the second half with a 16-6 run in extending their advantage out to 54-30 with just over 14 minutes to play.

Manahttan would continue to fight and cut the deficit to 13 points on four occasions but was unable to get any closer.

Freshman Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) scored all 10 of his points after halftime while sophomore Thomas Capuano (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Iona Prep) matched Walker with 10 to round out the double-figure scorers for the Jaspers.

Quadir Welton notched 18 points to pace four double-figure scorers for Saint Peter's.

Manhattan returns to action at Morgan State on Tuesday, December 6 with opening tip tabbed for 7:00 pm.
