Jaspers Post Solid Performances at Seahawk Shootout

STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Friday afternoon, the Manhattan College men's and women's indoor track & field teams took part in the Seahawk Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.  The Jaspers continued their early-season success, recording eight event victories in their second competition of the season.

Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ) won the men's shot put with a toss of 16.26 meters (53 feet, 4¼ inches), while Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) took first in the men's weight throw with a 16.24 m (53'3½) effort.  In the men's pole vault, Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) and Chris Sandoli (Old Bridge, NJ) both cleared 4.40 m (14'5¼) to tie for first.  Hoeller also finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.58).

Placing third in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds was Dennis Eriksson (Sundsvall, Sweden).  He also won the long jump with a leap of 6.85 m (22'5¾).  Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia) took second in the long jump (6.73 m, 22'1) and added a third-place result in the high jump (1.89 m, 6'2¼).

The men's team also picked up a pair of victories on the track.  John Dove (Monroe, NY) (2:30.39) and Jan Hoffmann (Tubeingen, Germany) (2:32.80) went 1-2 in the 1000 meters, and Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) placed first in the 3000 meters (8:31.60).  In addition, Anthony Hall (Mountainville, NY) grabbed third in the 60 meters (7.14) and Christian McLaughlin (Allenhurst, NJ) was third in the mile (4:28.37).

Manhattan's women registered two distance wins, as well.  Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY) finished first in the 3000 with a 10:06.46 clocking, while Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) earned the victory in the 1000 (3:02.39).  Megan Carmody (Rumford, RI) was third in that race with a time of 3:10.52.

Also turning in solid performances were Dayzondra Gonzalez (Monroe, NY) in the 60 (second, 7.97), Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ) in the mile (third, 5:09.77), and Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA) in the 300 meters (41.12).  She also placed fifth in the 60 with a time of 8.07 seconds.  Kathleen Cibuls (Blue Point, NY), meanwhile, finished second in the 60 hurdles (9.06) and third in the triple jump (11.15 m, 36'7) to go along with an effort of 10.02 m (32'10½) in the shot put.

After a month-long break, the Jaspers return to action on Jan. 14, when they head to the Armory Track & Field Center for the Tiger Invitational.
