PHILADELPHIA – On Saturday, the Manhattan College outdoor track & field team was in action at two different meets. The Jaspers concluded competition at the 121st Penn Relays, while the rest of the team took part in the Lions Invitational at the College of New Jersey.
Manhattan participated in three events on the final day of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field. Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) finished ninth in the men's championship hammer throw with a toss of 60.92 meters (199 feet, 10 inches). Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, N.Y.) competed in the college section of the event and placed third with a 61.63 m (202'2) effort. In the men's college javelin, Phil Ragan (Belmar, N.J.) took eighth with a mark of 64.13 m (210'5). Bobby Gebhard (Saddle River, N.J.), meanwhile, grabbed 13th place in the men's college triple jump (14.44 m, 47'4½).
Gebhard then traveled to Ewing, N.J., for the Lions Invitational, where he finished second with a leap of 14.39 m (47'2½). Also at the Lions Invitational, Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia) took second in the discus (48.73 m, 159'10) and eighth in the shot put (13.70 m, 44'11½). In addition, Connor Reilly (Ridgefield, Conn.) was ninth in the javelin (51.61 m, 169'4).
Anthony Hall (Mountainville, N.Y.), meanwhile, placed third in the 100 meters (10.96) and ninth in the 200 meters (22.72). He was also a part of the 4x400 meter relay squad that took first in 3:23.92. Anthony Colasurdo (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) posted a time of 4:03.32 in the 1500 meters, which was good for fifth place, while Dennis Eriksson (Sundsvall, Sweden) was sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a 15.43-second clocking.
In the women's pole vault, Marisa Robbins (Goshen, N.Y.) broke her own school record, set last week, with a clearance at 3.90 m (12'9½). Maddie Arndt (Merrimack, Mass.) cleared 3.35 m (10'11¾) to place fourth in the event. The Jaspers also earned a win in the women's javelin, as Katharina Klien (Maeder, Austria) got out to 39.35 m (129'1).
The Penn Relays and Lions Invitational represented Manhattan's final competitions before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The MAAC Championships will be held on May 2-3 at Monmouth University. Manhattan finished second (men) and third (women) behind Monmouth last year.
