LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's lacrosse team fell to Siena, 14-6, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play at Siena Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the defeat, the Jaspers move to 1-12 on the year, including 0-4 against MAAC opponents. Siena improves to 5-6, with a 2-2 mark in conference games.

The Saints embarked on a 6-0 run from the 2:06 point of the second quarter to the 5:26 spot of the third to extend their 4-3 lead to 10-3. The Jaspers would go on to score two straight to cut the deficit to 10-5, courtesy of goals by junior midfielder Nick Strano (Rocky Point, N.Y. / Rocky Point) and senior co-captain Kevin Cox (Brightwaters, N.Y. / Bay Shore). However, Siena concluded the game with a 4-1 run to come away with the victory.

Sophomore midfielder Alex Abiog (Saratoga, Calif. / Bellarmine College Prep.) paced the Jaspers' offense with two goals. Cox, Strano, senior co-captain Marcel Godino (Summit, N.J. / Summit) and junior midfielder Jimmy Rogers (Annapolis, Md. / DeMatha) also scored for Manhattan. Freshmen Andrew Gresham (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada / Pitt Meadows Secondary) and Chris Sammarro (Mountain Lakes, N.J. / Mountain Lakes) recorded assists in the outing.

Godino's goal extends his current point streak to nine games.

Junior Jack Fowler (Bethesda, Md. / St. John's College) had a strong day at the faceoff X, winning 12 of the 20 draws he took.

Defensively, Abiog, Fowler, Godino and Strano had three ground balls apiece to lead Manhattan.

Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, April 18, when the squad hosts Marist for a 1 p.m. meeting at Gaelic Park on Senior Day. Prior to the opening faceoff, the Jaspers' seniors will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program over the past four years.
