BUFFALO, N.Y. - After an impressive showing on Wednesday's opening night of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, the Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams set six school records on Night 2 of the competition.
Men
The men's squad swam to a sixth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The team, comprised of senior Ryan Klages, juniors Dallan Treanor and Lance Neuendorf and freshman Neil Perry, improved upon its morning preliminary time by over two seconds to clock a 1:24.27 in the finals. The time set a school record.
Earlier in the day, Perry broke the school record in the 50 freestyle when he swam to a 20.80 in the prelim. His time broke the previous school mark set by Robert Varieur in 2013.
Women
Sophomore Madison Brown and freshman Alexandra Hutzler led the women's side, competing on the 200 freestyle relay team that broke a school record.
Brown led off the race with a 24.97 to snap the school best she set at last year's MAAC Championships by .12 seconds.
Brown, Hutzler and sophomores Sara Buckley and Patricia Colton narrowly broke the 1:40 mark in the 200 freestlye relay with a 1:39.98. The time broke the previous school record of 1:40.91, which was set three years ago at the 2012 MAAC Championships.
Individually, Hutzler finished ninth in the 200 individual medley, swimming to a 2:09.87, shattering the previous school record she set earlier in the day during prelims.
The Jaspers return to action on Friday morning, when Day 3 of the MAAC Championships commence at 9 a.m. at the Burt Flickinger Center.
