BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams had a very impressive showing on the opening night of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships on Wednesday at the Burt Flickinger Center.

The Jaspers shattered a combined four school records on the evening, including a third place finish in the 200 medley relay by the men's squad. The result marked the team's best since the reinstatement of the program in the 2008-09 season.

Men

Senior Mike Mackay, juniors Lance Neuendorf and Dallan Treanor and freshman Neil Perry were named Manhattan Men's Performers of Night 1.

The four comprised the 200 medley relay team that set a school record by clocking a 1:31.26. The time was over one and a half seconds better than the previous mark.

The time was strong enough to earn the Jaspers a spot on the platform, as the group grabbed a third place finish in the race.

Women

Senior Kerry Schuermann, sophomores Madison Brown and Sara Buckley and freshman Alexandra Hutzler were tabbed Manhattan Women's Performers of Night 1.

Brown broke her own school record in opening leg of the 200 medley relay, swimming to a time of 28.15 in the backstroke, which was .36 seconds better than her previous mark.

In the 200 medley relay, Brown, Hutzler, Schuermann and sophomore Patricia Colton raced to a 1:50.20, snapping the school record by almost three seconds.

The final record of the night fell in the 800 freestyle relay, when the team of junior Michaela Schatz, Buckley and freshmen Eileen Blood and Audrey Corcoran clocked an 8:07.23 to break the previous school mark by almost five seconds.

The Jaspers return to the pool on Thursday for morning heats at 9 a.m. and an evening session at 5 p.m.
