BRONX, NY - The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a dual meet to Fordham on Wednesday night. The men were defeated 154-105, while the women fell 159-89.
Manhattan's best results on the evening came from a string of third place finishes. In the 200 medley relay, the team of senior Lance Neuendorf (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee), junior Rich Llewellyn (East Islip, NY / East Islip), sophomore Neil Perry (Elkridge, MD / Loyola Blakefield) and freshman Matthew Silvestri (Howell, NJ / Howell) raced to a time of 1:39.39 early in the meet.
Individually, Neuendorf swam to a 25.00 in the 50 backstroke and Perry clocked in at 50.05 in the 100 freestyle, earning a pair of third place results.
Later in the evening, sophomore Brandon Shields (Stony Point, NY / George Mason) touched in at 5:07.64, marking the third best time in the 500 freestyle.
Senior Dallan Treanor (Monroe, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) raced to the second best time in the 50 butterfly, racing to a 24.12.
In the final event of the night, the team consisting of senior Thomas Dougherty (Fresh Meadow, NY / Archbishop Molloy), juniors Mike DiMaria (East Huntington, NY / Half Hollow Hills) and Peter Hubbell (Cold Spring Harbor, NY / Cold Spring Harbor) and sophomore Perry, took clocked the third best time in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:31.51.
Manhattan returns to action when both the men's and women's teams compete in the ECAC Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, beginning Friday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m.
