Manhattan Sweeps Dual Meet with VMI

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The men defeated the Keydets by a 138-122 final to improve 3-0 on the season, while the women earned a 136-104 win to move to 3-1.

Men

Senior Lance Neuendorf (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee), junior Rich Llewellyn (East Islip, NY / East Islip), sophomore Tyler McCloskey (Orangeburg, NY / Tappan Zee) and freshman Tameryn Huffman (Albuquerque, NM / Cibola) were highlighted as Co-Performers of the Meet on the men's side.

Neuendorf and Llewellyn swam the first and third legs of the 200 medley relay, respectively, to times of 25.84 and 24.04 to help the team swim to a top finish in the event.

Later in the meet, Neuendorf took first in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 56.49. Huffman finished second in the event, racing to a 58.63. the two also placed in the top two spots in the 200 backstroke, with Neuendorf touching in at 1:58.95, and Huffman at 2:06.89.

Llewellyn and McCloskey followed that event by taking the top two times in the 200 butterfly. Llewellyn clocked a 1:58.02, while McCloskey finished with a 2:05.24.

A few events later, McCloskey earned valuable points for the Jaspers by taking second in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:23.95.

LLewellyn continued his big night with a first place finish in the 500 freestyle. The junior swam to an even 5:00.00.

Neuendorf and Huffman concluded their nights by finishing in the top two spots in the 200 individual medley. Neuendorf posted a 2:06.03, while Huffman recorded a 2:06.44.

Women

Sophomore Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) and freshmen Morgan Fountain (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire), Klaudia Nagrabska (Belmont, MA / Belmont) and Kathryn Voitik (Moscow, PA / Scranton) were named Co-Performers of the Meet on the women's side.

Fountain swam to the first top finish of the night for the women, clocking a 2:07.02 in the 200 freestyle.

Hutzler and Nagrabska placed first and second, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke, with times of 1:10.97 and 1:14.86. The duo also finished the same way in the 200 breaststroke, recording marks of 2:35.73 and 2:50.70.

Voitik followed those times by taking first in the 200 butterfly, swimming to a 2:25.07. She also touched in first in the 500 freestyle, racing to a 5:27.35.

 

Both the men's and women's teams return to action on Saturday, Nov. 14, when they host local rival Iona, for a 2 p.m. dual meet in Riverdale.
