Fairfield, CT - Manhattan played Fairfield to a 1-1 tie at Rafferty Stadium as the teams played to a double-overtime deadlock.
With the draw, the Jaspers improve to 6-3-1 while staying unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play at 2-0-1. The Stags, meanwhile, are now 3-6-2 and 0-1-1 in the league.
Previous to the tie, Manhattan had lost all 12 previous matches between the teams in Connecticut in a series that dates back to 1991.
The Jaspers opened up the scoring when junior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) notched this goal, her team-leading eighth of the year, off a pass from freshman Nicole Copping (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) in the 30th minute.
Manhattan would take the 1-0 advantage into the break before Fairfield tied the match up on Jenny Jacobs first collegiate goal in the 58th minute.
The Stags would continue to attack and would end up posting a 13-4 advantage on shots after halftime but were unable to further dent the scoreboard.
Reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year senior Kristen Skonieczny (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) made five saves - including this diving stop and this impressive save - in moving to 5-2-1.
The Jaspers, which owned a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, will next host Saint Peter's on Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm at Gaelic Park.
