WEST POINT, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, the Manhattan College men's indoor track & field team concluded competition at the Army Five-Way Meet. It was a successful day for the Jaspers, as Manhattan notched several IC4A qualifiers and picked up four event wins at Gillis Field House.
Sitting in second place after day one of the heptathlon, Alexandre Folacci (Tours, France) moved into the lead after the sixth event—the pole vault. Folacci ended up with a winning score of 4763 points, which should qualify him for the IC4A Championships in the heptathlon. Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany), meanwhile, ended up third with 4235 points.
Also winning his event and qualifying for the IC4A Championships was Trevell Moxey (Lansdale, Pa.), who leaped 14.47 meters (47 feet, 5¾ inches) in the triple jump. In the weight throw, Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) finished first and second. Pocesta's top effort was 18.74 m (61'5¾), while Litzell got out to a distance of 17.63 m (57'10¼). Killian Barry (Dublin, Ireland) took fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.73 m (51'7¼).
On the track, Will Stallings (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Abdias Myrtil (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) went 1-2 in the 200 meters. Stalling's winning time was an IC4A-qualifying 22.44 seconds, with Myrtil finishing just behind in 22.98 seconds. In the 500 meters, Justin Alleyne (New Rochelle, N.Y.) registered a 1:05.78 clocking to place third overall.
Next weekend, both the men's and women's teams will be in action at the NYC Gotham Cup from the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center. Competition begins at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
