JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round, Manhattan College was represented by a pair of athletes. Lina Bengtson (Malmo, Sweden) took part in the women's shot put, while Mohamed Koita (Cergy, France) was in action in the men's high jump at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
In the women's shot put, Bengtson improved on each of her three attempts. Throwing last in the order, she got out to 13.97 meters (45 feet, 10 inches) with her first throw. Bengtson followed that mark with a toss of 14.17 m (46'6). Her final attempt was a 14.34 m (47'0¾)-effort that was good for 39th place out of 48 competitors.
A two-time All-American (2013 outdoors, 2014 indoors) in the men's high jump, Koita was looking for his second straight trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. However, he was eliminated after missing three times at his opening height of 2.05 m (6'8¾).
