WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Members of the Manhattan College indoor track & field team had one last chance to post qualifying marks for next weekend's ECAC/IC4A Championships at Monmouth University's Moonlight at the MAC on Wednesday night. And the meet proved to be a successful one for the Jaspers, who notched several qualifying performances at the Multipurpose Activity Center.
Justin Farrenkopf (Ellenville, N.Y.), who had already achieved the IC4A standard in the men's pole vault, did it again, winning the competition with a leap of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches). Lina Bengtson (Malmo, Sweden), meanwhile, qualified for the ECAC Championships in the women's shot put. She finished fourth with a toss of 13.53 m (44'4¾).
Kathy Cadet (Endicott, N.Y.) took second in the women's 400 meters (59.35), while Elizabeth Rosenberger (Ramsey, N.J.) was third in the women's 800 meters (2:23.89). On the men's side, Abdias Myrtil (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) placed third in the 60 meters (7.08) and Killian Barry (Dublin, Ireland) grabbed third place in the weight throw (16.11 m, 52'10¼).
For those athletes who've qualified, the ECAC/IC4A Championships take place next weekend in Boston. Competition gets underway on Friday, March 7 and concludes on Sunday, March 9.
