ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former Manhattan College star Jake Freeman finished third in the men's weight throw at the 2014 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday.  Freeman was an eight-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion at Manhattan.

The defending champion in the event, Freeman was sitting in sixth place after fouling on two of his first three throws.  However, he uncorked an effort of 22.80 meters (74 feet, 9¾ inches) on his fourth attempt to move into third place.  Freeman didn't improve on his remaining two attempts and took home the bronze medal.  Three-time Olympian AG Kruger won the national title with a throw of 23.70 m (77'9¼), while JC Lambert placed second (23.05 m, 75'7½).

While at Manhattan, Freeman won the weight throw at the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships.  He also captured an NCAA outdoor title in the hammer throw in 2004.
