Jaspers Continue Strong Showing at ECAC Winter Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams enjoyed more success on Day 2 of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.

On the men's side, junior Thomas Dougherty set a new personal best in the 100 free, racing to a time of 49.77. He turned in a strong showing in the 100 fly by swimming to a 55.99.

Sophomore Christopher Reyes also swam very well on Saturday. He raced to a 53.98 in the 100 fly event. Reyes also timed a personal best 49.59 in the opening leg of the 400 free relay.

Two swimmers broke a combined four records for the women's team on Saturday. Freshman Alexandra Hutzler continued to add her name to the Manhattan record books by snapping the school bests in the 100 free, 100 breast and 200 breast. The freshman clocked a 54.92, 1:07.68 and 2:28.66, respectively, in the races.

Sophomore Madison Brown also broke a Manhattan record on Saturday, with a 59.91 in the 100 back.

The final session of the ECAC Winter Championships will held on Sunday, Dec. 7. The events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
