EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up the first night of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Winter Championships by turning in some very strong times at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
Both the men's and women's squads swam to their quickest times of the year in the 200 medley relay event. The men's side, comprised of senior Mike Mackay, junior Dallan Treanor, sophomore Rich Llewellyn and freshman Neil Perry, clocked a 1:36.06 in the race.
Senior Kerry Schuermann, freshman Alexandra Hutzler and sophomores Madison Brown and Patricia Colton raced to a 1:53.48 to set a season best for the women.
Junior Michaela Schatz led off another medley relay squad with a time of 28.84, narrowly missing the school record by .3 seconds.
The Jaspers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when Day 2 of the Championships commences at 10 a.m.
