BRONX, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's swimming and diving team fell to Fordham, 159-97, in a dual meet in Rose Hill on Wednesday night. The Manhattan women's team also dropped its dual meet with the Rams by a 158-87 final.
With the loss, the men's team moves to 4-4 on the fall. The women's side falls to 3-6 on the season with the loss.
Men
Senior Mike Mackay and junior Lance Neuendorf were tabbed Manhattan Men's Performers of the meet by the coaching staff.
Mackay had the best night of any Jasper, posting first place finishes in both the 50- and 100 breaststroke events. Mackay's time of 27.59 in the 50 breast earned him the top slot by .34 seconds. In the 100 race, the senior swam to a 59.41 mark and was the only competitor to touch in under one minute.
Neuendorf clocked a 55.50 in the 100 backstroke to take home first place. He defeated his nearest opponent by .20 seconds. The junior also swam as part of the 200 medley relay squad that earned second place. Neuendorf, Mackay, freshman Neil Perry and senior Ryan Klages comprised the team that swam to a 1:37.28.
Perry also enjoyed two second place finishes on the night, in the 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle.
Junior Dallan Treanor also swam to a second place finish, with a time of 25.42 in the 50 backstroke.
Women
Sophomore Patricia Colton and freshman Alexandra Hutzler were named Manhattan Women's Performers of the Meet for their impressive showings.
Colton anchored two of the Jaspers relay teams. The sophomore turned in a strong performance in the 200 free relay, clocking a 25.90 in the final leg.
Hutzler continued her string of great meets to open her Manhattan career. The freshman broke a school record in the 100 individual medley, which had been previously held by Bridget Latino '12. Hutzler's time of 1:02.84 broke the record by over 1.5 seconds.
Both the men's and women's teams will return to the pool on Friday, Dec. 5, for Day 1 of the ECAC Winter Championships. The first night of competition will begin at 6 p.m. at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
