JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned splits in their tri-meets on Saturday afternoon. The men defeated Montclair 153-84 and fell to Saint Peter's 133-92. The women's side earned a 108-95 victory over Montclair, but dropped a 125-78 decision to Saint Peter's.
With the split, the men move to 4-2 on the season, while the women advance to 3-2.
Men
The men started off the meet with a nice showing in the 200 medley relay. The team of senior Mike Mackay, juniors Lance Neuendorf and Dallan Treanor and freshman Neil Perry took second place in the event, narrowly falling to a Saint Peter's squad that touched them out by .44 seconds.
Perry took first place in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 21.97. He defeated his next closest competitor by .15 seconds.
Neuendorf and freshman diver, Dan Dixon, were named Manhattan Men's Performers of the Meet.
Neuendorf clocked a very impressive 54.60 in the 100 backstroke, beating his nearest opponent by almost 3 seconds.
Dixon earned a score of 208.35 in the 1-meter dive to break the school record set by Scott Isaacs last year.
Women
The women also swam well in the 200 medley relay. The team of senior Kerry Schuermann, sophomores Madison Brown and Sara Buckley and freshman Alexandra Hutzler earned a second place finish in the event, racing to a time of 1:55.97.
Hutzler took home first place in the 100 breaststroke, swimming to a time of 1:09.50. She won the race by over 2 seconds and nearly broke her own school record.
Brown and Buckley were tabbed Manhattan Women's Performers of the Meet for some very strong finishes in the top two of a number of events.
The Jaspers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when both the men and women compete against Iona in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) meet.
