BOSTON, Mass. - The 2012-13 swim season concluded on Sunday as the Manhattan men's and women's teams wrapped up competition at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. After a strong performance in the morning session, the Jaspers were able to re-write the school record books once more.
The Jasper women broke the school mark in the 400 freestyle relay, finishing eight overall. Kim Geissler, Paige Raccioppi, Kerry Schuermann and Brianne Grant combined for a record time of 3:44.18 seconds. Grant's split time of 55.08 seconds was the fastest split in program history as well.
For the men, Mike Mackay added some much needed points to the team total with a 12th place finish in the 200 breaststroke. After qualifying for the finals with a time of 2:07.21 seconds, he shaved over a second off in the finals to finish with a time of 2:05.97 seconds.
Then, four seniors ended their careers with a seventh place finish in the 400 free relay. Cullen Balcanoff, Mike Scire, Mickey Ruddy and Robert Varieur combined for a time of 3:10.94 seconds, giving the Jaspers a top-10 finish in the team standings.
Finally, swimming a time trial of the 100 Individual Medley, eight different Jaspers completed the event in under one minute. Freshman Lance Neuendorf had the best result though, setting a school record in the event with a time of 53.68 seconds.
In the team standings, the men placed 10th while the women finished the weekend 12th overall.
