BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - In a meet that was rescheduled due to Hurricane Sandy, the Jaspers swim teams couldn't weather the storm as they fell in their contests at the University of Bridgeport on Monday afternoon. The men dropped a 122-110 decision to the Purple Knights, while the women fell 115-102 on the road.
Combined, the Jaspers were unable to find an event victory in the first 13 events, before men's freshman Lance Neuendorf won the 200 Individual Medley while teammate Mike Mackay finished third in the event. The Manhattan men (7-5) would see just four more event winners as Neuendorf finished first int he 200 back, along with Chris Fusco winning the 400 freestyle event.
Dennis Daly also captured the 200 breaststroke while the team of Dallan Treanor, Cullen Balcanoff, Ryan Klages, and Fusco won the 400 freestyle relay.
On the women's side Kim Geissler and MaryLynn McMahon finished 1-2 in the 400 freestyle before Brianne Grant and Alyssa Maccarrone placed first and second in the 200 breast. In the final event of the meet, Manhattan (5-7) the team of Lindsie Holmes, Lauren Sciarrotto, Molly Russell, and Nicole Maher finished first in the 400 freestyle relay.
Both teams will be back in action this weekend when they return home for their final home meet of the season. The Jasper men will host NJIT, along with the second annual alumni meet, beginning at 2 p.m. at Riverdale Country Day School. It will be the last home meet in the careers of 11 Manhattan swimmers as Robert Varieur, Cullen Balcanoff, Chris Parker, Mickey Ruddy, Mike Scire, Jackie Mamary, Meghan Marro, Cassandra Bush, Brianne Grant, and Nadine Maher.
