Golf Opens Spring Season with Victory

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan golf team began its 2012 spring season on the right foot with a victory in the Southern Pines Golf Club Invitational in Pinehurst, N.C. on Tuesday. Four Jasper golfers broke 80 in the competition helping their team finish first out of four different schools.

Senior Robert Kehoe and sophomore Jonathan Feuer had the low rounds of the day for Manhattan as both shot a 77 to lead their team. Meanwhile, Matthew Creamer was right behind them with a 78, as were Marc Delzio and Pat Bibaud who finished the day with a nine-over 79. Chris Calabro had the high round for the Jaspers shooting 83 to round out the scores.

As a team, Manhattan shot the lowest combined score of 311 (the total of the top four scores) to defeat Sandhills Community College by three strokes. Louisburg College (318) and Onondonga CC (348) also competed in the competition.

The Jaspers will next take the course when they take part in the La Salle University Spring Invitational at Talamore Country Club in Horesham Township, Pa. on March 24.
