Manhattan Women Place Tenth as Latino Brings Home Silver

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Swim team placed 10th at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships held at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y.

Senior Bridget Latino concluded her MAAC career with a second place finish in the 200 yard butterfly, setting a new school record in the event, with a time of 2:04.98 seconds. Latino finished her weekend setting four new school marks and will no prepare to end her career at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in Annapolis, Md.

Along with Latino, freshman Kerry Schuermann capped off an impressive conference debut finishing the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:14.83 seconds, breaking a record formerly held by Latino. Vanessa L'Heureux came close to another of Latino's Jasper records in the 100 yard freestyle finishing in 55.70 seconds, missing the mark by 0.01 seconds.

Senior Mary Kate O'leary also concluded her Manhattan career competing in the 200 breaststroke finishing in 2:54.61 seconds.

Overall, the Jaspers placed 10th in the conference championships and now focus their attention to the ECACs at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
