RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College women's basketball team (9-10, 3-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) suffered a 59-45 loss to Loyola (7-12, 3-5 MAAC) at Draddy Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.

Manhattan scored the first points of the game on a Nadia Peters (Bronx, N.Y.) layup before Loyola went on a 10-0 run to open up a 10-2 advantage at the 17:07 mark of the first half.  After a three-pointer by Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) pulled the Jaspers within five, 10-5, the Greyhounds scored the next five points to again make it a 10-point game.  Loyola held a 29-19 cushion with 4:24 remaining before halftime, but Manhattan ended the half on a 10-2 rally, trimming their deficit to four, 31-27, on a Lindsey Loutsenhizer (North Huntingdon, Pa.) trey.

Leading 34-29, Loyola went on an 11-2 rally to push their advantage to 14 points, 45-31, with 11:44 remaining.  The Jaspers scored the next five points to get back within nine, 45-36, at the 8:54 mark, but Miriam McKenzie countered with a layup on the other end, and the margin wouldn't dip under 10 the rest of the way.  The Greyhounds took their largest lead of the game when a pair of Nneka Offodile free throws made it 59-43 with 49 seconds left.  Peters then sank a layup to round out the scoring.

Schyanne Halfkenny (Hyde Park, Mass.), Allison Skrec (Roselle, N.J.) and Roeder tallied 10 points apiece to lead the Jaspers.  Halfkenny also collected four rebounds, while Roeder had two steals.  Toni-Ann Lawrence (Elmont, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, including five offensive boards, as the Jaspers outrebounded the Greyhounds 31-29.  Maggie Blair (Briarcliff, N.Y.) and Loutsenhizer both handed out two assists.  Manhattan shot 33.3 percent (17-of-51) as a team, including 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from long range, and 75 percent (6-of-8) at the charity stripe.

McKenzie had a double-double for Loyola, notching game-highs with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  She also posted three assists and three steals.  Kara Marshall added 15 points, while Katie Sheahin posted seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals.  Alyssa Sutherland registered five assists and four steals for the Greyhounds.  As a team, Loyola distributed 19 assists and forced 18 Manhattan turnovers, including 15 steals.  The Greyhounds shot 49 percent (24-of-49) from the field, 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from downtown, and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) at the line.

The Jaspers are back in action on Friday afternoon, when they visit Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard for their second meeting of the season with Fairfield (14-5, 7-1 MAAC).  The Stags posted a 63-59 victory over Manhattan at Draddy Gymnasium on Jan. 7.  Friday's game is the National MAAC Game of the Week and will be broadcast live at 4 p.m. on ESPN3, ESPN's online video portal.
