Five Lady Jaspers Named to MAAC All-Academic Team

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Five members of the Manhattan College women's basketball team have been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday.  To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at their institution and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.

Senior center Alicia Marculitis (Worcester, Mass.) and redshirt-junior forward Nadia Peters (Bronx, N.Y.), who's a senior academically, were recognized for the third straight year.  Junior guard Alyssa Herrington (Cambridge, N.Y.) and junior forward Lindsey Loutsenhizer (North Huntingdon, Pa.) earned a place on the all-academic squad for the second time, while sophomore guard Maggie Blair (Briarcliff, N.Y.) was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the first time.

On the men's side, junior guard Liam McCabe-Moran (New Rochelle, N.Y.) was recognized for his success in the classroom.

Both the men's and women's squads are in action at the 2011 Spark Energy MAAC Basketball Championships on Friday.  The Lady Jaspers (21-8, 13-5 MAAC) take on Iona (11-19, 7-11 MAAC) in the quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m., while the men's team (6-24, 3-15 MAAC) faces Siena (12-17, 8-10 MAAC) in the first round at 9:30 p.m.
