Manhattan (4-18, 2-9 MAAC)
Manhattan is coming off a thrilling victory over Marist on Sunday defeating the Red Foxes 60-59 with Michael Alvarado's buzzer beater to finish January on a high-note. It was the Jaspers' second win in five games, after struggling in the beginning of the month.
Sophomore guard George Beamon is coming off his team-leading seventh double-double of the season, posting team-highs with 13 points and 10 rebounds. It was the 13th time in 22 games that Beamon led the Jaspers in scoring. He also delivered his 19th double-digit scoring effort. Beamon is leading Manhattan and ranks fifth in the MAAC in scoring averaging 15.1 points per game. The Roslyn, N.Y. native is one of the top rebounding wings in the conference averaging 7.0 boards, which is tied for eighth in the MAAC.
Demetrius Jemison has given the Jaspers solid production in the post, since fulfilling the requirements for a graduate transfer waiver from the NCAA on Dec. 10. In 13 starts, the Alabama transfer is averaging 10.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and is shooting 42.9% from the field.
Alvarado has started all 19 appearances this season at the point guard position. The product of All Hallows High School in the Bronx is averaging 10.3 points and ranks in the top-10 of the MAAC with 3.2 assists per contest. Alvarado is coming off a memorable performance at Marist on Sunday when he buried the game-winning 3-pointer from 65-feet out. Alvarado finished with six assists and did not commit a turnover. It was his fifth 5+ assist performance.
Freshman Rhamel Brown has emerged as one of the top shot blockers in the MAAC. The 6'6" forward from Brooklyn ranks second in the league with 50 blocks. Brown is third in rebounding averaging 8.2 boards, and he has recorded 7.4 points per game.
Kidani Brutus, a junior guard from the Bronx, is the Jaspers' top threat from downtown, ranking eighth in the contest with 36 3-pointers. Brutus has accounted for 47.4% of the Jaspers' field goals from beyond the arc.
Siena (9-12, 6-5 MAAC)
The Saints have won four of their last six contests, while coming off consecutive victories over Loyola (Jan. 28) and Niagara (Jan. 30). Siena is led by 2010-2011 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Ryan Rossiter who tops the conference in scoring (19.1 ppg), rebounding (12.4 rpg), and is ranked sixth in field goal percentage (49.3%).
Siena has also received good production from freshman point guard Rakeem Brookins. Brookins is averaging 8.7 points and is fourth in the MAAC with 4.4 assists per contest. Senior guard Clarence Jackson is second on the team averaging 15.9 points, but has played in just 12 games this season. Jackson has missed the last three games, since suffering an injury at Saint Peter's on Jan. 21.
O.D. Anosike has started all 21 games for the Saints this season. The big man is averaging 8.6 points and 6.8 rebounds. Junior forward Owen Wignot has also provided the Saints with solid production in 19 starts averaging 7.2 points, while tying Jackson with a team-high 28 3-pointers.
Siena is fourth in the MAAC in scoring offense averaging 68 points. The Saints lead the conference with 38.6 rebounds per game.
