Scouting Report

Manhattan (6-22, 3-13 MAAC)

Manhattan looks for its third win in four games when the Jaspers visit Canisius. The Jaspers are coming off a thrilling 64-63 overtime victory at Stony Brook on Saturday.

Jaspers' guard Kidani Brutus hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 25 points in 43 minutes of action to help propel Manhattan past the Seawolves. It was the third 5+ 3-point field goal performance from Brutus this season and he was two 3-pointers shy of tying the Manhattan men's basketball record.

Brutus hit 15 3-pointers in the Jaspers' last three games and averaged 18.0 points, while shooting 65.2% (15-23) beyond the arc. He leads Manhattan and ranks in the top-10 of the MAAC with 56 3-pointers and shooting 40.6% from 3-point range this season.

Manhattan guard George Beamon has also had a hot hand as he averaged 26.3 points in the last three games. During this stretch, Beamon converted 87.0% (20-23) of his free-throws and he is shooting 52.8% (28-53) from the field. The Roslyn, N.Y. native leads Manhattan with seven 20-point performances this year and he is third in the MAAC averaging 16.1 points per game.

The Jaspers have received consistent production in the post by graduate transfer Demetrius Jemison who is averaging 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds in the last three games. Jemison grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in the Jaspers' win at Stony Brook, which marks the eighth time this year  he grabbed 10-rebounds in a contest. The Birmingham, Ala. native leads the team averaging 8.8 rebounds starting all 19 appearances.

Point guard Michael Alvarado ranks second on the team in scoring averaging 10.6 points per game. Alvarado has dished out a team-high 74 assists in 23 games this year, and he stands ninth in the MAAC averaging 3.2 assists per contest. The Bronx native is coming off his seventh 5-assist performance of the year in 35 minutes off the bench at Stony Brook.

Canisius (13-14, 7-9 MAAC)

The Golden Griffs are on a three game skid, falling most recently at Boston University on Saturday in their Sears BracketBuster match up. Canisius could not slow down Terriers' senior John Holland who scored 28 points or junior Darryl Partin who had 20 points.

Canisius returns to the Koessler Athletic Center after playing the last four contests on the road. The Golden Griffs last victory came on Feb. 11 at Rider when Canisius earned a 67-65 win on sophomore guard Gaby Belardo's fall-away jumper in the lane with 7.8 seconds remaining.

Belardo (10.7 ppg) is one of four Golden Griffs who are averaging double-figures in scoring this season. Elton Frazier, a 6'6" 208-pound senior forward, leads Canisius in both scoring (11.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg). Frazier ranks sixth in the MAAC shooting 51.6% from the field on the year.

Seniors Greg Logins and Julius Coles are each averaging 10.9 points per game. Sophomore guard Alshawn Hymes is the team's top 3-point shooting weapon as he has 67 treys this season. He is third in the MAAC averaging 2.5 3-pointers per  contest.
