OTTAWA - In the final game of its Canadian tour, the Manhattan College women's basketball team pulled away late to turn a close game into a 76-65 victory over Carleton at the Ravens Nest on Friday night. With the win, the Lady Jaspers ended the trip with a perfect 3-0 record.
The game was tight early on, as it was tied 20-20 after the first quarter and 33-33 at halftime. It looked like it would be tied after three quarters, as well, but a Manhattan basket late in the period gave the Lady Jaspers a 53-51 advantage entering the final frame. The Lady Jaspers then wore the Ravens out down the stretch, outscoring Carleton 23-14 in the fourth quarter to secure the 76-65 victory.
Abby Wentworth (Portland, Maine) led the Lady Jaspers with 23 points, while Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) added 20 points. Toni-Ann Lawrence (Elmont, N.Y.) also reached double figures, tallying 10 points, and Nadia Peters (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in nine points.
Kendall MacLeod had 18 points to pace the Ravens, and Krista Van Slingerland tallied 11 points for Carleton.
