RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's basketball team returns to action on Monday when the Jaspers host Fairfield at 7 p.m. in Draddy Gymnasium. Fans can watch all the action live at GoJaspers.com.
Manhattan (9-16, 4-11) and Fairfield (17-8, 10-5) meet for the 83rd time in program history. The Jaspers have dropped their last three contests with the Stags, falling most recently 88-85 on Jan. 10 in Bridgeport, Conn. Jaspers' junior guard Rico Pickett exploded for 29 points and senior guard Darryl Crawford finished with 21 in Manhattan's highest scoring contest of the season. Laurence Jolicoeur added 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds to the Jaspers' effort. Fairfield forward Anthony Johnson led four Stags in double-figures with 27 points on 10-for-12 shooting.
Manhattan has won five of its last six meetings with Fairfield at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers and Stags split their regular-season contests last year with each squad holding serve on their home court. Manhattan earned a 65-60 victory on Jan. 26, 2009 behind 16 points apiece from Crawford and Chris Smith in Riverdale.
