Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-5, 0-1 MAAC)

Manhattan got off to a strong start winning its first two games of the 2010-2011 campaign, but now faces a five game skid falling most recently to Rider at Draddy Gymnasium. Manhattan is led in scoring by sophomore guard George Beamon who is sixth in the MAAC averaging a team-high 14.0 points per game and he is fourth in the conference with 7.7 rebounds per contest.

Freshmen Michael Alvarado and Rhamel Brown have also been key factors for the Jaspers early on. Alvarado has a 12.4 scoring average and he is fifth in the league with 3.1 assists per contest. Brown is third in the league with a 8.1 rebounding average and tops the conference with 4.0 offensive rebounds per game. Brown is averaging 7.3 points and he ranks sixth in the MAAC with 1.6 blocks per game.

Kidani Brutus, a junior transfer, has added fire power to the Manhattan backcourt. Brutus, a 6'1" 220-pound product of the Bronx is averaging 10.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He leads the Jaspers with a 35.3% 3-point field goal mark.

Manhattan has been working with an under-manned, injury plagued roster and has three players averaging 34+ minutes in seven games.

Saint Peter's (3-4, 1-0 MAAC)

Saint Peter's has won three of its last four games, including a MAAC opening victory over Loyola on Thursday in Baltimore. The Peacocks used Jeron Belin's game-high 16 points to secure a 55-52 win.

Belin leads a balanced Saint Peter's scoring attack this season with 9.7 points per game. Senior guard Nick Leon is averaging 9.3 points and a team-best 2.9 assists.

Senior forward Ryan Bacon is the Peacocks' top rebounder with 5.9 boards per contest. The 6'7", 205-pound product of Maplewood, N.J. is averaging 8.6 points and ranks second in the MAAC with 2.1 blocks per game.

Saint Peter's recently suited up All-MAAC senior guard Wesley Jenkins who has posted 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in the Peacocks last three games. Jenkins had seven points and five rebounds in 26 minutes against Loyola.

The Peacocks two other wins this season came in non-conference action defeating Alabama 50-49 at the USVI Paradise Jam in St. Thomas on Nov. 22. Saint Peter's also rallied to a 65-62 victory over Long Island on Nov. 27.
