Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-4, 0-0 MAAC)

Now six games into the 2010-2011 campaign Manhattan has three players averaging double-figures. Sophomore George Beamon (13.7 ppg), freshman Michael Alvarado (13.0 ppg) and junior Kidani Brutus (12.2 ppg) each rank in the top-15 of the conference in scoring. On the rebounding front, freshman forward Rhamel Brown is tied for second in the conference with 8.2 boards per game, while Beamon is a close fourth with a 8.0 rebounding average.

Manhattan got off to a strong start winning its first two contests against NJIT and Penn, but now looks to snap a four game skid. The Jaspers are ranked second in the MAAC for both free-throw shooting (71.6%) and field goal percentage defense (39.8%).

Alvarado has been a bright spot early on for the Jaspers, providing stability at the point guard position. The 6'2", 185-pound Bronx native is fifth in the conference averaging 3.2 assists per game and he ranks sixth with an 81.8% free-throw percentage.

Manhattan has been working with an under-manned, injury plagued roster. Brutus leads the league averaging 37.3 minutes through six starts, while Beamon is second with 37.0 minutes per contest. Alvarado has also logged significant time on the floor standing sixth in the MAAC with 36.0 minutes average over six starts.

Rider (4-3, 0-1 MAAC)

Rider enters its match up with Manhattan coming off back-to-back home losses to Siena (73-60) and Hofstra (58-48). Senior point guard Justin Robinson is the Broncs top returnee who is currently fourth in the MAAC averaging 16.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. Robinson ranks second in the conference with a 90.0% (18-20) free-throw shooting mark.

The Broncs got off to a strong start winning four of their first five contests with non-conference wins against Lafayette, Texas Christian, Loyola Marymount and at USC. Rider is averaging 68.7 points per contest and owns a league-best 47.1% field goal mark.

Senior forward Mike Ringgold, a 6'7" 215-pound native of Philadelphia, has posted 12.9 points with a team-high 56.2% field goal shooting mark. Ringgold also leads Rider with 6.3 rebounds per game.

Rider has received good production off the bench from 6'7" junior swingman Novar Gadson who has posted 10.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in seven contests.
