Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-2)

Manhattan is coming off a lackluster offensive performance on Thursday against Wisconsin. Scoring just 35 points, the Jaspers are now averaging 62.2 points per contest.

Working with an under-manned, injury plagued roster, Manhattan is led in scoring by freshman point guard Michael Alvarado who is coming off his third double-digit scoring performance of the season. He is averaging 16.0 points and a team-high 3.5 assists per contest.

Sophomore George Beamon has anchored the Jaspers rebounding effort this season. Now four games into the 2010-2011 campaign Beamon is averaging 8.0 rebounds per contest, going along with a 14.5 scoring average.

Kidani Brutus, a junior transfer, is the third Jasper averaging double-figures this season with 12.0 points per game. Brutus is shooting 45.7% from the field and boasts a team-best 45.7% mark from downtown.

Junior forward Robert Martina, a 6'8" 215-pound junior from Miami Dade College is coming off his first career start since arriving in Riverdale this fall. Martina is averaging 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in the Jaspers last two games.  In the blocks, Manhattan has also relied on freshman forward Rhamel Brown. Brown is also coming off the first start of his career against Wisconsin on Thursday. He is averaging 6.0 points and 7.3 rebounds this season.

Texas A&M (3-1)

Texas A&M is coming off its first loss of the year falling 67-65 to Boston College in the first contest of the 2010 Old Spice Classic. The Aggies entered the tournament with consecutive victories over Alcorn State, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Texas A&M International.

The Aggies are coached by Mark Turgeon who has 10 letterwinners, including three starters, back from last year's squad which posted a 24-10 overall record, finished tied for second in the Big 12 and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 Texas A&M is led by sophomore forward Khris Middleton who is averaging 15.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest. The 6'7" forward from North Charleston, S.C. is also averaging 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest.

Fellow big men David Loubeau (12.5 ppg) and Nathan Walkup (14.3 ppg) are also averaging double-figures. Walkup is a 6'7" 210-pound forward from Houston who leads the Aggies in rebounding (6.0 rpg). Loubeau, a 6'8" 230-pound junior, has averaged 5.5 rebounds per contest.
