Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-1)

Despite working with an under-manned, injury plagued roster, Manhattan enters the 2010 Old Spice Classic standing 2-1. The Jaspers success early on has come from a balanced scoring attack in which four players are averaging double-figures.

Sophomore swingman George Beamon is leading the Jaspers in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg), while freshman point guard Michael Alvarado has logged a team-best 4.3 assists per game, going along with a 16.3 scoring average.

Junior transfer Kidani Brutus is coming off a spectacular week as the Bronx native averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, shot 47.8% from the field and 47.1% beyond the arc. Freshman forward Rhamel Brown also had success during the two game stretch, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points and 10.5 boards, while shooting 75% from the floor.

Robert Martina, a 6'8" 215-pound junior from Miami Dade College, is coming off his best all around effort wearing a Kelly Green & White jersey. Martina had nine points, five rebounds and drained all five free-throw attempts in 18 minutes as a reserve against Long Island on Saturday.

The Jaspers have shot 44.7% as a team from the field and have tallied a 76% free-throw mark. These figures have improved from last season when the team finished the year shooting 40.5% from the field and 68.4% at the charity stripe.

Wisconsin (2-1)

Wisconsin rolled out a 2-1 start with its first two victories coming in Madison, Wisc., over Prairie View A&M (99-55) and North Dakota (85-53). The Badgers are coming off a 68-65 road loss at UNLV on Saturday.

The Badgers are led by 2011 Preseason All-Big Ten honoree Jon Leuer. The 6'10" 228-pound senior forward is averaging 18.7 points and 5.7 rebounds, while shooting 52.9% from the field, 63.6% beyond the arc and 86.7% at the charity stripe. Junior guard Jordan Taylor, a 6'1" product of Bloomington, Minn., is also off to a strong start with a 16.3 scoring average, to go along with 4.3 assists per game.

Wisconsin has three starters and 12 letterwinners back from last season when the Badgers finished 24-9 overall and earned fourth place in the Big Ten standings. Wisconsin advanced to the Second Round in their 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Head coach Bo Ryan is in his 10th year at the helm. Ryan boasts a 219-83 (.725) record during his time in Madison.
