RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan looks for its first victory of 2010 on Friday when the Jaspers host local MAAC rival Saint Peter's at Draddy Gymnasium. Fans can watch and listen to all the action live from Riverdale at GoJaspers.com. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Manhattan (6-8, 1-3 MAAC) and Saint Peter's (7-7, 2-2 MAAC) collide for the 111th in series history, which dates back to the 1922-23 campaign. The Jaspers have played Saint Peter's more than any other team all-time. The programs split their regular-season meetings the last two years. Both contests last season were decided on buzzer beating baskets with the home team prevailing. Manhattan used a midrange jumper from Antoine Pearson as time expired to earn a 62-60 victory on Jan. 19, 2009 at Draddy Gymnasium. Pearson led the Jaspers with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. In the rematch on March 1, 2009 Peacocks guard Wesley Jenkins got revenge hitting deep 3-pointer as time expired to give Saint Peter's a 66-63 victory. Manhattan guard Darryl Crawford set a career-high with 33 points on 12-for-19 shooting in the loss. Manhattan is 18-5 versus the Peacocks this decade and have won the last five meetings at Draddy Gymnasium.
