The Manhattan College golf team was defeated Thursday afternoon by Saint Peter's 7 ? to 2 ? in a dual match played at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, N.Y. Jasper junior Thomas Romano shot the low round for Manhattan with a 69.
In singles play, Romano opened the match with a 2 and 1 victory over Saint Peters' Sean Fitzpatrick. Jasper Matt Baney then went all square with Billy Sues. But then the Peacocks rallied with Ray Ferrari getting a 2 up victory over Louis Perry, SPC's Tyler Pang had a 2 up victory over Patrick Bibaud, Saint Peter's TJ Sumigray took a 7 and 6 win over Jonathan Wilson, SPC's Nick Trill won his match 3 and 1 over Steven Rentz and 3 and 1 and SPC's Greg Nordturit topped Anthony DeMartino 6 and 5.
In best ball, Romano and Baney pulled back a point for the Jaspers with a 2-1 win over Fitzpatrick and Sues.
In addition to Romano's 69, individual scores for Manhattan were: Baney 77; Perry 78, Bibaud 77, Wilson 88, Rentz 89 and DeMartino 89.
