Manhattan rolls into its contest with the Purple Eagles coming off a 68-44 victory over Fordham in the 102nd "Battle of the Bronx" on Saturday at Draddy Gymnasium. Senior guard Antoine Pearson finished with 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting to claim the game's John "Doc" Johnson Most Valuable Player Award. Earlier last week the Jaspers picked up wins over Florida Atlantic and at American University. Four Jaspers scored in double-figures, including a game-high 18 point, nine rebound and four assist effort from Pearson as Manhattan earned a 73-66 win over Florida Atlantic. Manhattan picked up its first road victory of the year at American on Wednesday as the Jaspers used 26 points from senior guard Darryl Crawford to earn a 69-62 triumph.
The Jaspers' game with Niagara marks the beginning of a seven game road stint. The road series spans over 35 days, touches three states (New York, Maryland, Tennessee) and includes non-conference contests at 2009 NCAA Tournament participant Morgan State (Dec. 12) and SEC power Vanderbilt (Dec. 30).
