Riverdale, N.Y. (April 4, 2008) ? The Manhattan College Men's Lacrosse team fell to Villanova University today in a non-conference math-up, 7-2.  March LaBelle and Michael Llewellyn both scored a goal each in the game for the Jaspers.

 

In the first half, both teams' defenses were playing tight as LaBelle scored the first goal of the game with 11:24 left in the quarter to put Manhattan in the lead 1-0.  The Jaspers played shut down defense as the ended the quarter with that one goal lead.

 

Early in the second, Villanova struck to tie the game up in the opening seconds, 1-1.  The Wildcats would add another one later in the period and at the half, Manhattan would trail 2-1.  The Jaspers were going to have to play from behind in the second half to stay in the game.

 

In the third quarter, Villanova added two more goals and Manhattan was facing a three goal deficit, down 4-1 going into the final quarter of play.  After the Wildcats scored again, Llewellyn took a pass from Brian Wynne and made the score 5-2 in favor of Villanova.  But the Jaspers could not overcome the deficit as they fell.

 

LaBelle and Llewellyn finished the game with one point apiece as Wynne kept his point streak going tallying one for the past three consecutive games.

 

The Jaspers will return to action on Saturday, April 12 where they will travel to take on MAAC opponent Mt. St. Mary's.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
