Jaspers Gear up for Contest with Top-Seeded Siena

The Matchup

Manhattan enters today's MAAC Championships quarterfinal matchup with Siena coming off a 73-59 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday night. Junior forward Devon Austin exploded for 26 points and went 6-9 from beyond the arc. Antoine Pearson and Darryl Crawford also posted double-figures in the first postseason victory under the direction of Manhattan head coach Barry Rohrssen. Pearson had 15 points, while Crawford posted 12 coming off the bench. Freshman forward Andrew Gabriel reached a career-high with nine rebounds. He grabbed seven on the offensive end. Fellow freshman Chris Smith dished out a career-high five assists.

Siena is also coming off a victory over Saint Peter's. On March 2, the Saints coasted to a 77-64 win in Jersey City in their regular-season finale. Sophomore forward Alex Franklin posted a double-double finishing with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Edwin Ubiles added 19 points in the winning effort. Siena enters the contest riding a three game winning streak which began on Feb. 23 in Siena's ESPNU Bracketbusters matchup at Boise State. The Saints cruised to a 77-64 victory. The Saints last loss came against Manhattan on Feb. 18 at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers earned a 73-72 win.
