Niagara Up Next for Women's Basketball

Today's Game: The Lady Jaspers will take on the Niagara University Purple Eagles today in conference play. This will mark the 38th meeting between the two programs. Niagara holds a slight advantage in the all-time series, leading 19-18. Manhattan is looking to revenge a loss to the Purple Eagles earlier in the season. Manhattan has won the last four of six contests against Niagara, despite their early season loss. The last victory the Lady J's had over their opponent, was in the first round of last year's MAAC Tournament, where they eliminated the Purple Eagles. In that game, Caitlin Flood notched a double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 boards. Flod dropped 17 points against Niagara earlier this season.

Making History: For the first time in Manhattan College Women's Basketball History, two players have made over 50 three pointers in one season. Gabrielle Cottrell and Aubrie Dellinger both surpassed the mark on February 3, when they played Loyola College at Draddy. They are currently 2 and 3 in the conference for three point shooting.

History Vs. Niagara: The Lady Jaspers are 31-34 against Niagara all-time. They are coming into their 66th meeting as Niagara has won the most recent contest agaisnt Manhattan. But the Lady J's took the previous four of six from the Purple Eagles.

History vs. MAAC: The Lady J's have 197-208 record while playing MAAC opponents. Last season they lost a second round game to MAAC Champion Marist College, 55-42. Manhattan finished 7-11 last year in conference play and is currently 5-1 this season.

Charity Stripe: The Lady Jaspers have been perfect from the free throw line in two consecutive games this year. They have hit 28 consecutive free throws going 19-19 against Fairfield and 9-9 against Iona.

Last Time Out: The Lady Jaspers shot 53% from the floor as a team led by Gabrielle Cottrell's career high 22 points in their impressive 83-57 win over Iona. The Manhattan defense was strong as it tallied nine steals and foced 22 Iona turnovers. In the second half, the Lady J's would not let Iona get closer than 20 points as they cruised onto victory.

On the Horizon: Coming down the home stretch of the MAAC season, the Lady Jaspers will take on Fairfield University to close out their three game homestand. Manhattan fell to Fairfield in their first matchup last week despite 42 second half points. It will be the 66th meeting between the teams with Fairfield leading the all-time series, 34-31. Flood continued her hot hand against the Stags scoring 20 points as she was one of three Lady Jaspers to score in double digits.
