Women's Basketball to Take On Second Place Iona on ESPNU

Today's Game: The Lady Jaspers will take on the Iona College Gaels today in conference play. This will mark the 56th meeting between these two programs. Manhattan holds the advantage in the all-time series leading Iona, 37-18. But the Gaels have won the last five consecutive contests as the Lady Jaspers last win came in the 2004-05 season. Before the Lady J's five game skid, they had won the previous seven contests against their local MAAC rival. In January 2007, Caitlin Flood and Kelly Regan combine for 37 of Manhattan's 62 points, in their loss to Iona. Flood averaged 14.5 points per game last season against the Gaels.

From Down Town: Manhattan is currently 1st in the MAAC in three point shooting percentage as they are shooting an outstanding .381 from behind the arc. Senior Aubrie Dellinger is currently 2nd in the conference in three point percentage and 11th in the NCAA with a 44.3%. Fellow senior Gabrielle Cottrell is 3rd on that list with a .425 percentage and 27th in the nation. Manhattan is ranked 17 in the NCAA with a 38.1% three point field goal percentage as a team.

Making History: For the first time in Manhattan College Women's Basketball History, two players have made over 50 three pointers in one season. Gabrielle Cottrell and Aubrie Dellinger both surpassed the mark on February 3, when they played Loyola College at Draddy. They are currently 2 and 3 in the conference for three point shooting.

History Vs. Iona: The Lady Jaspers are 37-18 against Iona all-time. They are coming into their 56th meeting as Iona has won the last five contests against Manhattan. But the Lady J's took the previous seven from the Gaels.

History vs. MAAC: The Lady J's have 196-208 record while playing MAAC opponents. Last season they lost a second round game to MAAC Champion Marist College, 55-42. Manhattan finished 7-11 last year in conference play and is currently 5-1 this season.

On the Horizon: Coming down the home stretch of the MAAC season, the Lady Jaspers will take on Niagara University on Sunday, February 17. This is the second of a three game homestand for the Lady J's, the second time this season they have played three consecutive home games. This will mark the 38th time these two programs will meet, with Niagara holding a slight advantage in the all-time series, 19-18. Manhattan is looking to revenge a loss to the Purple Eagles earlier this season.
