WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STARTS 2008 OFF AT LOYOLA

History Vs. Loyola: The Lady Jaspers are taking on Loyola for the 37th time in the teams' history. Manhattan holds a 20-16 record against Loyola, but the Greyhounds won the last meeting in January 2007.

History vs. MAAC: The Lady J's have 190-203 record while playing MAAC opponents. Last season they lost a second round game to MAAC Champion Marist College, 55-42. Manhattan finished 7-11 last year in conference play and is currently 2-0 this season.

Record at Draddy: The Lady J's hold a 210-155 record while playing in their home gym.

Record on the road: The Lady J's hold a 181-280 record while playing road games.

"Four"some: Dellinger, Nwafili, Flood and Cottrell gained valuable experience as freshman, appearing in 25 games together. In the next two years the injury bug bit the quartet consistently as the four only appeard in 14 games as sophomores and just six when they were juniors. This season they have been healthy and that has equated to their success on the court as the Lady J's have improved to a 6-3 record.

Awards: Senior Caitlin Flood was named MAAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 1. Flood averaged 22.5 points over her two games, including a 27 point performance that put her over the 1,000 career point mark. Flood also shot 65% on the week and went 17-18 from the free throw line.

Last Time Out: In their last non-conference game of the year, the Lady Jaspers fell to Big East opponent Villanova University, 69-45. Junior Kelly Regan came off the bench to score a team high 16 points while also grabbing four boards. Senior Gabrielle Cottrell finished the game with eight points going 2-4 from three point range. Manhattan as a team only turned the ball over 10 times against the Wildcats, the lowest amount of turnovers this season for the Lady J's.

On the Horizon: MAAC play is in full swing as on January 11, Siena College will come to Draddy Gym to take on Manhattan. The Lady J's will then stay in Riverdale to take on defending MAAC Champion Marist College on January 13 at 7:00 p.m. Soon after, the lady Jaspers will hit the road again as they will travel to take on Saint Peter's College on January 18.
