Jaspers Set for Rematch with Rider

Today's Matchup: The Jaspers are set to square off with Rider for the second straight contest over a six day span. In their last time out, Manhattan was slightly edged by the Broncs 85-82 in Riverdale. Rider guard Ryan Thompson led all scorers with 27 points. Senior forward Jason Thompson complemented his brother well finishing with 21 points on 8-10 shooting. Six Jaspers scored in double figures including a team-high 17 points from Devon Austin and Antoine Pearson. Manhattan has lost its last four contests at Rider and stands 16-14 all-time against the Broncs. The Jaspers last victory at Alumni Gymnasium was on January 16, 2003 when Manhattan cruised to a 76-66 win behind Luis Flores 23 points.

What's Next?: Manhattan returns to action on Saturday for a home contest with Loyola. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPNU. Manhattan stands 3-4 in Riverdale this season which includes victories over Pepperdine, St. Francis (NY) and Saint Peter's. On January 30, the Jaspers will face-off with local rival Iona at Madison Square Garden.

Six Score in Double-Figures: On Saturday, six Jaspers scored in double-figures marking the first time this has happened since February 11, 2005. Peter Mulligan led the charge for Manhattan that day leading the squad to a 90-73 victory over Rider in Riverdale.
