Riverdale, N.Y. (September 28, 2007)- The only thing that slowed down the Manhattan offense in the Lady Jaspers', 5-0, win over the College of the Holy Cross tonight at Gaelic Park was a power outage, which halted the game with just over six minutes to play.  Manhattan's defense extended its consecutive minutes without allowing a goal run to 337:58.

The Lady Jaspers got on the board 7:15 into the game, as Jill Beauchamp drilled home a shot from inside the 18-yard box, with assists going to Courtney McMahon and Caroline Morse.  Just over 11 minutes later, Morse extended the lead to 2-0, creating space in the area and putting the ball over the outstretch hands of the Crusader goalkeeper.

Manhattan carried a 3-0 lead into the break, thanks to the first of two goals from Christine Reina.  McMahon touched the ball past the Holy Cross keeper inside the area, but not hard enough to get past the goal line, so Reina tapped in the ball for the score.

In the second half, the Lady Jaspers salted the game away with two goals in a three minute spurt.  Reina began the surge at the 51:50 mark, deking the Crusader net minder on a one vs. one break, and then putting home the shot for her team-leading fifth tally of the season.  At the 54:03 mark, Samantha Stahl put home the rebound off a Reina shot to provide the final margin.

At the 83:52 mark, the power in the facility went out, causing the game to be halted.

Manhattan did not allow a shot on frame in the first 45 minutes, and Alicia DeFino (two saves), Caitlin Trupiano (one save), and Alyssa Bachowski combined to keep Holy Cross off the scoreboard.

Manhattan closes out non-conference play with a 3-3-3 record, and will open MAAC play next weekend, traveling to Baltimore, Md. to take on Loyola College on Friday, October 5, with game time slated for 4:00 p.m., before continuing on to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take on Rider University on Sunday, October 7, with game time slated for 1:00 p.m.
