Riverdale, N.Y. (September 12, 2007) ? Manhattan Volleyball fell to local rival Fordham University at the Draddy Gym, 3-0.
The first game started out with Fordham out in front for most of the game. A late surge from the Lady J's was not enough as the Rams took the first game, 30-26. The second game started out a close one, as both Manhattan and Fordham fought for the lead. However, Fordham proved to be too strong for the Lady Jaspers as they took the second game 30-22. In the final game, Fordham took the lead early and never looked back as they defeated Manhattan 30-21 for the game and the match.
Sophomore Rita Welsh and Freshman Diane Strutner both tied for a team high six kills in the game. Alyssa Getzel paced the offense with 16 assists. Ashley Watson anchored the defense with 13 digs and Jaci Rahey contributed 10 digs, respectively.
The Lady Jaspers will take on Marist College this Saturday, in the Draddy at 2:00 pm.
