Princeton, N.J. (May 13, 2007)? Triple jumper Dexter Jules and shot putter Milan Jotanovic spearheaded Manhattan's surge up through the team standings on Sunday at the IC4A Outdoor Championships.  Thanks to their winning efforts and Chris Sole's near win in the high jump the Jaspers finish third overall with 51 points.

Liberty won the men's team title with 77 points followed by the University of Virginia in second place with a score of 66.50.

On the women's side, senior Tiina Magi highlighted Manhattan's efforts by finishing third overall in the ECAC triple jump field.  Magi won last year's competition with a jump of 12.51m, but her mark of 12.62m (41' 5”) on Sunday was not enough to repeat.  Virginia's Tomika Ferguson stole Magi's crown by jumping 13.21m (43' 4.25”).

The men's triple jump event was home to even better news for Manhattan as Jules finally conquered what had been an elusive IC4A title.  Jules produced a winning mark of 15.71m (51' 6.50”) in his best performance since the 2006 IC4A Indoor Championships.

Jules jumped 15.72m last March, but missed out on the title to Cornell's Muhammed Halim.  Both men reached 15.72m on their final attempt, but the title went to Halim by virtue of his second-best jump being better.  Jules missed out on chances at the 2006 outdoor title and 2007 indoor crown due to injuries.

Jotanovic successfully defended his title with a winning throw of 19.39m (63' 7.50”).  The two-time NCAA Indoor All-American distanced himself from the rest of the field.

Yale's John Langhauser was second at 18.03m (59' 2”), while Virginia's Yemi Ayeni claimed bronze at 17.68m (58' 0.25”).

By clearing 2.05m (6' 8.75”), Sole shared second place in the high jump with Cornell's David Pell.  Had Sole matched his personal record of 2.14m (7' 0.25”), he would have equaled Sunday's winning mark, which came courtesy of Princeton's Justin Frick.  Sole has now earned All-East honors for the second straight outdoor season.
