Hempstead, N.Y. (April 11, 2007?Three different Hofstra players had two hits as the Pride defeated Manhattan 9-1 Wednesday afternoon. Courtney Oliver pitched five innings for the win, while collecting three hits at the plate with a homerun and four RBI to lead the Pride to their 24th win of the season.

Things looked good for Manhattan early on as Liz Strein led off by advancing to second base on a throwing error by Hofstra's third basemen Genevieve Haney. After Lyndzie Phillips went down swinging, Danielle Just drove in her 11th run of the season to put Manhattan up 1-0. The 11 RBI by Just has her tied for the team lead with Candice Sheridan.

The lead would not last long however as the Pride scored twice in their half of the inning. With the bases loaded, Melissa Hodge flied out to center to score the run from third, then Casey Fee came around to score after an error by third basemen Kara Cokeley.

Leading 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Hofstra essentially put the game away when Oliver hit a three-run homerun to right field.

Manhattan gets right back at it tomorrow when they take on Columbia University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
