Loudonville, N.Y. (February 3, 2007)?It wasn't exactly perfect, but Saturday afternoon's meet at Siena College proved to be a good one for Courtney Arduini who swam the final regular season meet of her storied collegiate career. A native of Selkirk, N.Y. not far from the Siena campus, Arduini set a new individual season best and helped the 200 medley relay to its top seasonal time as well.
Despite Manhattan falling to Siena by a 110-83 count, four Lady Jaspers, in addition to Arduini, posted season bests, while both relays enjoyed their best performances thus far this season.
After leading off the winning 200 medley relay squad, which posted a time of 1:59.22, Arduini came up gold again in the 100 backstroke by clocking in at 1:04.15. Competing near her hometown, Arduini closed the regular season chapter of what has been a record-breaking career. The two-time MAAC All-Academic selection has helped the Lady Jaspers to Academic All-American Team status, while claiming current ownership of nine individual program records in the pool.
Sophomore Megan O'Keefe swam her best time of 2006-07 en route to claiming first place in the 100 fly. The Pearl River, N.Y. native also contributed to the 200 free relay performance, swimming a 25.70 split for the second leg.
Preceding O'Keefe in the 200 free relay was fellow Pearl River High School product, freshman Megan Goldrick. Before leading off the relay squad, Goldrick notched a season best in the 100 free with a time of 58.08s.
Junior Michelle LaTouche and sophomore Anne Mohan also swam their best times this year in the 500 free.
Two championship meets are all that remains on the schedule for Manhattan Women's Swimming with the first meet being the MAAC Championships at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
The meet commences on Thursday, February 8 and concludes on Saturday, February 10.
