New York, N.Y. (February 2, 2007)?At some point in time Milan Jotanovic and Milos Vuckovic had important decisions to make about their futures.  The two young men, who are both Serbian, made the decisions to venture thousands of miles across the globe to compete for Jasper Track and Field, and thus far in 2007 their decisions are paying healthy dividends.  Both Jotanovic and Vuckovic won their respective events at Friday night's seventh annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational held at New York City's 168th Street Armory.

With a top throw of 19.19m, Jotanovic finished atop the men's shot put field, while Vuckovic won the men's 1000m crown with a time of 2:26.54.

For Jotanovic, a 2006 NCAA Indoor All-American, the victory was just another accolade to add to the long list of honors the junior shot putter has amassed in a Manhattan uniform over the past two-plus years.  Only in his first season, Vuckovic is not nearly as accomplished as his teammate, but the rookie now has two consecutive first-place finishes.  At last weekend's Metropolitan Championships, Vuckovic captured the men's mile crown at 4:11.95.

After putting the shot 18.96m to capture the Metropolitan title, Jotanovic won the New Balance Collegiate with what would have been the third best mark in the NCAA entering the weekend.  Before Friday's meet, Jotanovic was ranked fifth on the nation's top performances list.

Senior Nick Newman, who hails from England, also competed at the meet, earning a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a top mark of 7.36m.  Newman, who took fifth in all of Great Britain this past summer at the Norwich Union AAA Championships, owns a season best of 7.54m.
