WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PREPARES FOR SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

Today's Game: The Lady Jaspers return home to Draddy Gym to pen a seaon high three game home-stand. Today they will take on the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. This is the first time each team will face each other in the teams' history. SMU holds an 8-1 overall record as the Laqdy J's are sporting a 6-4 record, coming off a 60-59 overtime loss their last game.

History vs. Conference USA: This is Manhattan's first game against a Conference USA opponent with its current membership. The Lady J's took on current Conference USA member East Carolina in November 1974, before the conference was formed.

History vs. Non-Conference Teams: Manhattan sports a 201-225 against all teams that do not play in the MAAC. Their last meeting was against NEC opponenet Fairliegh Dickinson University where the Lady J's fell in overtime, 60-59.

Record at Draddy: The Lady J's hold a 209-153 record while playing in their home gym.

Last Time Out: In their last non-confernce road game, the Lady J's fell in overtime to NEC opponent Fairleigh Dickinson University 60-59. Caitlin Flood led all Manhattan players with 18 points, along with grabbing nine rebounds. Sophomore Michelle Pacheco set a new career high in points, scoring 13 on Saturday. This is the second time this season she has ousted her career high numbers. Manhattan shot 67% from the free throw line and also tallied 10 steals as a team.

"Four"some: Dellinger, Nwafili, Flood and Cottrell gained valuable experience as freshman, appearing in 25 games together. In the next two years the injury bug bit the quartet consistently as the four only appeard in 14 games as sophomores and just six when they were juniors. This season they have been healthy and that has equated to their success on the court as the Lady J's have improved to a 6-3 record.

On the Horizon: The Lady Jaspers will play their second consecutive home game in a December 22 contest against the University of Vermont. Their homestand will wrap up against Villanova University on December 30. MAAC play continues on January 5 as they will travel to take on Loyola College. The first home MAAC game of the 2008 year will be played on January 11 against Siena College.
