MEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO THE BAY STATE TO TAKE ON BOSTON UNIVERSITY

Riverdale, N.Y. (November 30, 2007)- The Manhattan College men's basketball team gets back in action on Saturday, December 1, traveling to Boston, Mass. to take on the Boston University Terriers.  The game is slated to begin at 4:00.  The Jaspers look to get back on the right path following their game vs. Fordham on Wednesday.

Today's Matchup: The Jaspers head to Boston, Mass. to take on the Boston University Terriers on Saturday, December 1. Boston University leads the all-time series, 4-1, with the lone Manhattan win coming in the 1941-42 season, a 56-43 Jasper victory. Last season, the Terriers posted a 74-65 win at Draddy Gymnasium. All five Manhattan starters reached double-figured in the game, paced by Darryl Crawford's 17 points on 6-7 shooting from the field and 4-5 shooting from the line.

What's Next?: Following today's game, the Jaspers return home to Draddy Gym to open MAAC play on Friday, December 7. Manhattan will host Saint Peter's College in a game slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. Manhattan leads the all-time series with the Peacocks, 62-43, and has won four of the last five and 15 of the last 18 meetings. Last season, the Jaspers swept the season series, winning 71-66 in Jersey City, and 58-51 in Riverdale. The Jaspers have played the Peacocks more than any other team, as this will be the 106th meeting between the two programs. Antoine Pearson averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals over the two matchups last season.

All-time record: Manhattan is in its 102nd season of men's basketball. The Jaspers' overall record is 1206-1042 (.536), while the team has posted a 201-202 (.499) record over 26 seasons of MAAC play. The men's basketball program was established in 1904-05 and has taken two seasons off (1943-44 and 1944-45) due to World War II. In 55 of the program's 101-plus seasons, including the four of the last six seasons, the Jaspers have posted a .500 or better record. Manhattan's 200 MAAC wins makes them just the second MAAC team to reach 200 wins in conference, joining Iona College.

Jaspers Live on the Internet: For the 10th consecutive year, Manhattan College's men's basketball games will be broadcast live via the Internet. In partnership with Stretch Internet, followers of Manhattan basketball can now access the live play-by-play of all Jasper games. A link to the broadcast is available on Manhattan College's website (GoJaspers.com). Ed Cohen and Brian Mahoney will serve as the voices of Jasper basketball. Each broadcast will begin with the "Coach's Pre-Game Report" 15 minutes prior to tip-off.

Veteran Production From The Rookie Class: With seven freshmen on the roster last year, including all of the Jaspers' guards, Manhattan had to rely heavily on a group with no collegiate experience, but the group stepped up, and played a large role in the success the team had last season. The rookie class has accounted for 47.6% (942 points) of the team's 1978 total points. Darryl Crawford led the rookies, averaging 9.6 points per contest.

Using Windex On The Offensive Glass: Manhattan has been hitting the offensive glass hard so far this season, tallying an equal or greater amount of offensive boards in four of the five games this season. The Jaspers held significant advantages in three games, Hofstra (17-7), St. Francis-N.Y. (18-9), and Fordham (21-14). Devon Austin (19), Andrew Gabriel (17), and Brandon Adams (14) pace the Jaspers in offensive rebounding, numbers that rank them among the MAAC leaders.
